This trip takes you across fjord and mountains, with lots of cultural attractions on the way!
Route: Sirdal-Setesdal-Harangervidda National Park-Ryfylke-Sirdal
Drive eastwards from Sirdal on the narrow "Suleskarvegen" mountain pass to Setesdal and Hovden. Make sure you stop by the Silvesmith Hasla in Valle, where they produce the most beautiful traditional and modern jewelry. Hovden offers activities like spa, moose safaris and the museum of iron production. From Hovden, continue north to Haukeligrend, and from there west to "Haukeliseter" and Hardangervidda National Park. Haukeliseter is the perfect place to spend the night, with it`s beautiful location and supreme Norwegian food. From "Haukeliseter" continue to Røldal, where the town`s stavechurch is among the highlights. From Røldal turn south onto the "Ryfylkevegen" road which takes you across fjords and mountains. Salmon studio and rock carvings are among the highlights. At Oanes you reach the entrance of the Lysefjord. Cross the fjord by ferry to Lauvvik, continue to Oltedal and visit Gjestal spinning mill. From Oltedal drive eastwards to Byrkjedal and visit the traditional Byrkjedalstunet before you return to Sirdal via Hunnedalen valley.
